MRI Safety Week at Medispace

This week we are shining a spotlight on the importance of MRI safety and the incredible work happening behind the scenes at Medispace to ensure the highest standards for our patients and staff.

Shoutout

A special shoutout to Kirstie Bell, who recently attended Dr. Kanal’s renowned MRI safety course – an inspiring step on the path toward potentially becoming an MR Safety Officer (MRSO). Her dedication to learning and safety leadership is a fantastic example of our commitment to continuous improvement. 💡

We’re also proud to work closely with our Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) provider, who supports us in so many valuable ways:

• Monthly safety meetings to keep us aligned with the latest best practices and guidelines.
• A platform to discuss any near misses or incidents. Learning from experience to enhance patient care.
• Ongoing MRI safety training for all staff, now part of our mandatory training programme.
• Specialist lectures for team members like Sarah Pippard, our outstanding Medispace MRI graduate. 
• Expert review and feedback on our internal policies and procedures, helping us embed best practice into everything we do.

But we’re not stopping there...

Kirstie is also spearheading the creation of a “MRI Safety Committee" (official title pending 😄) every 6 months, this committee will bring together:

• MRSEs
• Clinical and operational leads
• Health & Safety and Fire Safety Officers

Their mission? To review, strengthen, and promote MRI safety initiatives across the entire Medispace network.

At Medispace, MRI safety 🧲 is not just a requirement. It’s a responsibility we’re proud to lead on.
